Hi Again everyone and welcome to our August 2010 Newsletter.
Well, our new Concourse venue is pretty much confirmed so its full steam ahead for our 2010 event which promises to be bigger and better than ever. Our venue, at The Armory in Sydney Olympic Park is massive and will allow us to take the Concourse to a whole new level.
I will be trying to encourage as many members as possible to bring along their Porsches and display their cars during the day. I know of so many wonderful cars out there, which just don’t get seen enough. So, with our bigger and better venue with wide-open spaces, we can fit in hundreds or cars.
Please see Wayne Collins’ update on the event and a big thanks to Wayne for taking this event on board.
More exiting news its the confirmation of our clubs Corporate Suite Booking for the 2011 Bathurst twelve hour event in February next year. Again a great big thank you to Glenn Palfrey for taking this event under his wing and making it happen for our members. Well-done Glenn. The booking link is on our web page and there is more info. about it below.
We have a wonderful and very interesting Guest Speaker planned for this months club meeting, so make sure you can get along to Porsche Centre Willoughby to meet Mr. Dieter Bartsch.
We still have a couple of comp events to finish of this season. If you take a look at our results page on the website you can see for yourself, just how competitive this years comp has been. Big thanks to Tom, Tim and the comp committee for a big effort this year.
I received an email from Porsche Cars Australia confirming the decision by Porsche AG to put into production the new 918 Spyder “Hybrid Super car” This is a quick heads up for you! Get down to your nearest dealer and get that order in!
If you manage to secure one you have to bring it along to the 2015 PCNSW Concourse. OK. Deal?
Enjoy those cars and see you at our next event

August-September
G'day everyone,
Thanks to everyone who came along to the Hunter Valley lunch drive on July 18th, we had a total of 76 people and 41 cars, photos are in the gallery section of the website.
Black Tie weekend at Turners Vineyard Orange.
Only 4 rooms left !!!!!!!
If you are planning to do the September weekend away to Orange you will need to call Turners Vineyard very soon on 02 63691045, they wont debit your credit card until September. Have a look on the September section of the event page, the photos show the resort well and there is a fantastic drive from Sydney to Orange with a lot of it on back roads.
It's time to book and pay for the 3 course dinner, the meal package also includes coffee and cakes on the way to Orange on the Saturday morning. This is separate to the room booking.
This event will count towards the Autohaus Hamilton Participation Award. Pick up an entry form at the next club meeting or social event and start recording your attendance at social events, club meetings and flag marshalling. Points are awarded for all of these events going back to January 2010. The three top point scorers will be eligible for the end of year prize. This will either be a day at Autohuas Hamiltons rally test track near Oberon or a day with the Autohaus team at the Porsche GT Cup races. Grant Geelan is working on the final details but whatever he comes up with will be the chance of a lifetime for three lucky club members.
All you have to do is come along and enjoy the events that are provided by the club.
Another new feature on the club website, the LINKS section on the main menu now includes a selection of Porsche video links, click on the link and it will take you to the video you have chosen. More will be added as they become available.

Motorsport - July '10
We only had 1 x round in June (19th) at "chilly" Wakefield - another great day & the times were fabulous for the temperature, a couple more lap records were achieved, results are up on the web site.
The pointscore is REALLY close proving the new scoring system is a success, have a look on the web site, very close across all classes.
At our next SuperSprint on 01 August, we have extended an invite to the PC Queensland & they are looking at bringing about 10 cars, some new competition & faces is always welcome.
See you soon
Tom
Guest Speakers news
In July we had Dan Masi from DMS Detailing, sponsors of our "Best Presented Car" award at each of our competition events this year, come in to talk to us about making our cars look beautiful.
Dan gave an animated demonstration, using his partner Danni's car, of the products and techniques to use on our cars and he was warmly received and appreciated by a captive audience.
For our August meeting we have a wonderful gentleman named Dieter Bartsch coming along to talk about his fascinating life as an engineer and inventor. Being the father of Michael Bartsch, the former head of Porsche North America, has its advantages, and Dieter has some great stories of sharing time in Porsches with Michael, most interestingly, piloting a 996 911 across the Simpson Desert! Dieter also designs, builds, obtains ADR and sells his own cars - yes, he has his own automotive brand! Come to the meeting to find out more.....
Sponsors news
Since our last Newsletter Dan Masi from DMS Detailing has presented two of his "Best Presented Car" awards (vouchers for $200 of detailing) to Mark Phelan at the 19th June Wakefield Park Sprint, and to Bill Mellor at the 11th July Motorkhana. Mark won for the immaculate presentation of his yellow 996 GT3 Clubsport and Bill won for his beautiful blue 964.
PR Technology, sponsors of our 2010 Supersprint Championship, gave their "Driver of the Day" award at the 19th June Wakefield Park Sprint to Steve Brown for his entertaining and enterprising driving on the day and for his huge improvement this year. The prize given to Steve by PRT was a trophy sculptured from a 911 2.7 race engine crankshaft adorned with an appropriate placard and some red paint ("blood") - beautifully prepared by the masters of PRT, Paul and Richard. A big special thanks also to Paul and Richard for organising a terrific event, The PRT Tarmac Rally, on the day before the June sprint - a series of competitive driving tests including short sprints, motorkhana, and hillclimb provided a really entertaining and immensely enjoyable day for all the competitors.
Mick Mitchell from Corse Automotive provided some prizes for our annual Slot Car Grand Prix held on 29th June. As well as providing technical support for the drivers and their cars, Mick awarded a custom designed Corse Automotive motorsport kit bag full of goodies to first, second and third placegetters on the night. Congratulations to club president, Rob for winning the night, to Mark Kennedy for running a close second, and Chris Scheidler for a great third.
Glenn and his team have organised what is sure to be a spectacular drive to, and weekend away, in Orange in September. Staying at the gorgeous Turners Vineyard and incorporating a Black Tie Dinner, this is going to be very special. Adding to the lustre of the event, Autohaus Hamilton have agreed to sponsor the weekend and provide some terrific prizes to be given out during the weekend. Check out the website for more information, and while you are there, make a booking and get along to our premium social gathering of the year.

Hi everyone.
Planning for the 2010 club concours is well underway, 2010 will see a change of venue however that is a very positive move. The new location gives the club the room to display hundreds of cars in an area that provides excellent security.
The new location is one of Sydneys best kept secrets. The Armory, this is part of the Olympic Park complex at Homebush. Newington Armory is a special place - formerly the Royal Australian Naval Armament Depot (RANAD), it features over 100 heritage buildings of various ages and types, set amidst a 52 hectare riverside landscape of undulating hills and woodlands. The heritage buildings provide the Armory with a unique character, which is described through an award-winning heritage interpretation program, that can be viewed at the original 1897 gate house.
Situated between the southern bank of the Parramatta River and the suburb of Newington - the former Olympic Village, the site is a restricted area with limited public access.
If driving, Newington Armory can be accessed via Jamieson Street (off Holker Street), with free parking available for those attending but not driving Porsches at Blaxland Riverside Park. If on foot or bike, it can be accessed from the Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf or Silverwater via a pleasant and easy walk/ride along The River Walk.
As usual we will have the full concours and wash and polish competitions and this year we will be adding a display section and a swap meet. All Porsches that are entered in the display will be able to park within the Armory precinct.
Ron Goodman from Exclusive Bodywerks will sponsor the event and is already planning many new and exciting features for 2010.
Full details will be on the club website soon but make sure you set aside October 31st. Please call me on 0404 805671 for more details.
