President’s Report January 2012
Welcome to 2012, the committee members are settling into their new roles and looking forward to an action packed year of motoring events.
The new membership management system has been receiving a workout with members renewing and registering for the Presentation Lunch. The tip for this month is to set things up by logging in now with your email address and using the lost password feature to get your default password sent to your email address. Then you can check your details and change your password to something easy to remember.
We are still looking for a Social Secretary to head up the sub committee and are keen to hear from people willing to share the role. We have received expressions of interest in the Merchandise Manager role and should be able to continue with our website ordering system
As an official Porsche Club we will be looking to deepen our relationships with the Sydney dealerships and with Porsche Cars Australia. This should result in improved opportunities for support and participation in Club events.
Enjoy each motoring moment

Vice Presidents Report January 2012
Guest Speakers
The speaker for December’s Club Meeting was Geoff Morgan, ably assisted by David Withers and Justin Reed. They spoke and showed us the Sydney Aussie assault on the Rennsport IV at Leguna Seca last September. The audience was absolutely silent as Geoff’s in-car video showed his relentless drive against the 934 and 935 American might! David gave an outline of the planning and logistics of taking three 911s, the gear and crew to the famous Leguna Seca circuit for the weekend. Justin had a slide show of the fabulous Porsches that were at the track and everywhere. A lovely evening.
Club Meeting for January 10.
There will be no Guest Speaker as such but we will show the brilliant documentary ‘Senna’. The film took more than a year to put together from 15,000 hours of Senna related film. The documentary has won World Awards and is quite spellbinding. Senna is said to be the greatest GP diver of all time with his fearless and determined approach to everything he did. His tussle with Alain Prost and Prost’s closeness to the FIA are shown for all to see. Runs for about 105 minutes. Don’t miss it.
Guest Speakers for 2012.
I’m putting together the 2012 programme and if anyone has a suggestion I’d be pleased to hear of it.
Market Place Ads
You will have noticed that photos have gradually been introduced on the website for ‘Parts’. It is not intended that ‘Parts’ photos will become part of the ‘Porsche Power’ magazine content.
New membership / Event System [Wild Apricot]
Thanks to many for the backroom work to implement our new system for membership / renewals / events / merchandising etc. You will no longer have to repeat your basic information. We are going to format your car description into the new data files, in accordance with our established protocol which grew out of need for uniformity, competition events, and trophy processing.
Sponsor Activity
We thank our major sponsors for their support in 2011. Porsche Cars Australia was sponsor for the PCNSW Driver Championship and Porsche Centre Sydney South supported the popular PCNSW Motokhana Championship. PR Technology, once again, was the sponsor for the PCNSW Sprint Championship and Autohaus Hamilton the Social Participation Award. The Concours 2011 was supported by Exclusive Bodywerks.
Best wishes for a healthy, happy and safe 2012
Enjoy your Porsche

Club Captain's Report January 2012
Hello again
The new calendar of events for 2012 is now on the Club Web Site so make a note in your diaries for all the challenges of Sprints and Motorkhana's.
As previously mentioned, the first event for the year is a Motorkhana on the 12th February at Eastern Creek Skid Pad - that's a lot earlier than normal, so be prepared. For those who have not done a competition event, it's a great way to try your hand. Be reminded that the February Club meeting is the Motorsport meeting where we will go through all the requirements for car and driver preparation. We will have a sample car on display so we can show what’s needed to prepare a car for track days – it’s not as hard as you might think.
With the start of a new season comes the requirement to again register your car for competition purposes - why not do it as you renew you club membership. For those who competed in 2011, your class and competition number should remain unchanged. For those who are returning after a period off, we will attempt to allocate a number you request provided it's not already taken. This year we are registering the cars as part of the new Membership Management system, so when events entries are called, your details are prefilled when you register for the event - it cuts down the work and makes it more accurate.
Also, check your CAMS license to ensure it's current and has not expired while you were distracted over the Christmas break!
Track days and Motorkhana's don't run themselves - there is a dedicated group of members who work behind the scenes to make it all work smoothly - and there is always room for more. Specifically we are looking for an event secretary to work with me on the days to handle registrations and the paperwork to CAMS following an event. If you feel would like to help out, I'd love to hear from you at captain@pcnsw.com.au
So remember - don't just turn up, get involved and your will get so much more out of your club.
Tim Bickford

Club Secretary & Social News January 2012
Hi & Happy New Year everyone,
As Club Secretary I am pleased to advise I have received a couple of interesting pieces of correspondence since taking on the role. The first of these was from CAMS inviting Club members who might be interesting in trying some motorsport to attend CAMS’ Come & Try Day at Eastern Creek on 28 January. The details of this event can be found HERE
I strongly recommend you consider this if you haven’t done motor racing before and are thinking of participating in the PCNSW Competition Events this year.
The second piece of news is the December 2011 issue of Porsche Club News from Porsche AG which is circulated to all Porsche Clubs around the World. A copy of this can viewed HERE
The first social event for this year is the Annual Presentation Lunch at Linton Gardens at Somersby near Gosford. Bookings are now open online and I am pleased to report there has been a good response so far to attend this event. So mark Sunday 29 January 2012 in your diaries for another social lunch to share in the presentation of trophies and award to be presented to those members who have enjoyed the success of both the Club’s social and competition activities. Details for this event can be viewed on the Club’s website HERE
There are currently no other social events have been booked for 2012 as yet, however, a number of activities are being planned by a number of members and we hope to have some of these finalized soon. So keep an eye out for details of the forthcoming Social Events and click HERE

Are looking for a new challenge within your club?
This year we have two vacant positions on the committee, Social Secretary and Merchandising Manager.
We are asking for expressions of interest from PCNSW members who may be interested in either position but were daunted by the prospect of an election.
The roles are outlined in the Club Rules:
25. Social Secretary
It is the duty of the Social Secretary of the Association to carry out the following:
(a) co-ordination of all social and special events,
(b) chair the Social Sub-Committee, and
(c) report on social and special events at committee meetings and general meetings.
26. Merchandising Manager
It is the duty of the Merchandising Manager to be responsible for the procurement and sale of the range of official club merchandise and to make sure all merchandise comply with Porsche AG guidelines.
John Marosszeky has done a great job as Social Secretary for the past few years but has taken on the role of PCNSW Secretary and retained Membership Manager, far too much for the ever enthusiastic John.
Sue Palfrey has also done a sterling job as Merchandising Manager, but will be travelling more this year and has stepped down.
If you have been thinking about contributing more to the Club, this is your opportunity.
The Social Secretary role involves working with the established sub-committee to populate our social event timetable, you do not have to organise, or attend, or run, every event. Many events are organised by one of the sub committee members or in conjunction with other Committee members. You do not even have to come to every committee meeting; if travel is an issue, you can submit a written report for the agenda and dial in.
The Merchandising Manager role will involve working with the established supplier to maintain a small inventory and supply the items to order. We have a web based ordering system for items and usually most merchandise is picked up at club meetings or events. The small inventory will need to be stored so you will need some storage space in a big cupboard or spare room. A larger vehicle works well as fitting the merchandise in a Boxster for a Club meeting can be a challenge. You will have considerable flexibility as to how you order stock and arrange delivery.
If you want you can arrange for another person to share the role with you.
If you are interested or want to know more, email me at president@pcnsw.com.au
Enjoy each motoring moment
Paul Dortkamp

New supply of caps have arrived after selling out at the Concours, new colours now available.
To order online please click HERE
Cheers,
Sue Palfrey
Merchandise Manager.

I am pleased to advise that the new online event booking and membership application and renewal system continues to work successfully since it’s cut-over on 15 November and I would like to thank all members for persevering and working through the few teething glitches with the system which now seem to be sorted thanks to the work by Craig Drury and Prez. Paul Dortkamp.
