March Newsletter

Torque from the President

Hi everyone and welcome to our March E newsletter. Well, I hope you're all rested and ready, because the year is set to Go Go Go!

Have you had a look at our web site “Events Page” lately? How’s that for an array of events! Tom and Glenn will fill you in with more details in their columns in this very email but all I can say is, there is something there for every one.

Girls! Come along and take part in our Motorkhana series this year. I have heard a rumor that we already have at least three Lady Starters in this years championships (not including Mark Kennedy) also some great prizes are at stake!

Vice President Darryl Head and I have just returned from a 10-day Cultural Ambassadors tour of the Porsche Factory and Museum followed up by participating in Porsche’s Camp 4S program in Ivalo, Finland.

Having laid waste too much of Western Europe we are working on a joint presentation for the enlightenment of club members who have a spare Tuesday evening on March 9th.

The first offering,

Rob & Daryl's Beer Hall Tour of Stuttgart - A Drinkers Perspective.

Item two,

Porsche Camp 4S - How to fly a Panamera.

If you would like to witness this misled pair’s photographic proof of the trip then we will see you at Porsche Centre Willoughby this coming Tuesday the 9th March.

Remember to enjoy those cars!

G'day everyone,

As Rob has already mentioned 2009 is shaping up to be a very busy year, the Social events are now on the website but we will probably add a few more tech days and new model pre release evenings as the year progresses.

Last week was a busy week for Rob, Daryl, Tom, Sue and I. we attended a meeting at Bathurst with Pamela Ward from Porsche Cars Australia and the FOSC Management Team. The Porsche Clubs at Bathurst Easter event should be a beauty. Not only will there be approximately 170 Porsches on the track, there will also be over 200 classic historic cars competing, From Bentleys, E Type Jags, Ford GT 40's to Hillman Imps and Mini Coopers. With just about any make you care to think of in between.

Day entry to the track is available with very reasonable ticket prices. The ticket price includes pit entry so you can get very close to the cars and the action. The Porsches and The FOSC cars will be running in separate events so while one group is on the track the others will be on show in the pits.

We took two days off work to attend the meeting and while we were in the area we did the recce's for the April 11th Autohaus Hamilton Observation Drive [booking link], The PCAB Observation Drive and our end of year Black Tie Dinner weekend away to Orange. Check the website for details of the April and September events and for September make sure you book early to secure the best rooms. The resort will not debit your credit card until the weekend of the event. I know it's six months away but don't miss this event, after reaching Lithgow we turn off for 140km's of superb Porsche back roads, no traffic, great scenery and the road condition is good. The photos on the website show the resort much better than I can describe it.
